Some members of opposition urged Russians not to participate in the elections to the State Duma, a journalist and spokesman for the Russian public movement "Independence without borders" Valery Otstsvnyh told the press conference on "The results of the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation: why the "boycott"has beaten Putin and the "opposition."

“We had a slogan "Do not side with the evil." We have issued a statement, which was joined by Sotnik, Feigin and Polozov. The average turnout was 30% and the result was pulled up by 50% due to the state employees. And the high turnout is important for any dictator. We consider these elections immoral and criminal. People shouldn’t have participated in it. Elections can not be held in a country that has no proper opposition, free media and independent courts,” he said.

According to Otstsvnyh, participation of pseudo-oppositionists in some way legitimized the elections, thus legitimizing the annexation of the peninsula.

“We were actively calling to boycott the elections, to come to the polling station and write any opinion on the ballot, as well as to organize pickets and peoples gatherings,” he added.
