MOSCOW (QHA) -

Following the assessment of the Russian military exercises "Caucasus-2016," the Chief of the RF General Staff Valery Gerasimov said that in recent years the balance of forces in the Black Sea had not changed in favor of Turkey.

“A few years ago, Turkish fleet was considered the master in the Black Sea. Now the balance of power has changed,” he said.

Gerasimov reported that the Black Sea Fleet is equipped with reconnaissance facilities (with a range of 500 km) and the means of destruction; it is able to hit the enemy landing troops at the stage of their launching at the port.

Valery Gerasimov went to Turkey for talks with his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar, to discuss military cooperation and the situation in Syria.

The exercises "Caucasus-2016" took place in the south of Russia and in the occupied Crimea September 5 - 10. In total, more than 120 thousand of servicemen were involved. Though only 12,500 of people took part in the exercise in the southern regions of the country at the same time.
