MINSK (QHA) -

The proposal of Australia and the Netherlands to pay compensation to the relatives of the victims of the tragedy of Malaysian Boeing (flight MH17) downed by the Russian missile complex Buk in the summer of 2014 is a "game of Russophobia", the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated at a press conference in Minsk on May 29.

Lavrov stressed that "unproven" allegations were made against Russia, both in the case of poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal in the UK, and in the attack on a Malaysian aircraft. The Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also accused the West of not reviewing documents provided by Moscow.

According to him, at a press conference on the catastrophe of the Malaysian Boeing, it was stated that the investigation is far from over and the identification of the guilty continues, but at this stage the Russian side must agree to enter into negotiations with Australia and the Netherlands to agree on the amount of compensation.

In the end, the Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed hope that the countries will still manage to come to an agreement.

"However, "little strokes fell great oaks", "time heals" and many similar proverbs can be mentioned. I am convinced that in the end, the need to negotiate and not dictate one's terms will prevail in the minds and practical actions of Western politicians," he said.

Earlier, the Netherlands and Australia accused Russia of the downing of the Malaysian Boeing.

According to the information on the website of the Government of the Netherlands, the Russian Federation is responsible for the deployment of the Buk anti-aircraft missile system on the territory of the east of Ukraine controlled by the separatists, from which the airliner was shot down.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands noted that the government of the country is now deciding how to bring Russia to justice. He noted that this would be a complex legal task.

Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop noted that after the announcement of the findings of international investigators, many questions arose with Russia.
