MOSCOW (QHA) -

The Ministry of Justice of Russia does not recognize the decision of the International Arbitration Court in the Hague, according to the department’s statement.

The court decision awards compensation to Ukrainians for the loss of business after the annexation of Crimea in 2014.

The Ministry of Justice notes that the Russian Federation does not recognize the above decision in connection with the alleged lack of jurisdiction of the Arbitration Tribunal to consider the claim.

Previously, political expert Vitaly Portnikov said that Russia will have to pay for the annexation of the Crimea.

According to the expert, Russian propagandists are trying to respond to the decision of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague on the lawsuit filed by Ukrainian companies against Russia with a reminder of how another decision of the same court was torpedoed by the suit of the YUKOS shareholders.

Although Portnikov notes that in the case of the Crimea, the same scheme can be used, it is not necessary to rush agreeing with these arguments.
