The Russian delegation, headed by the Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin, left the hall of the General Assembly during the speech of Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko at the Summit on the Global Agenda in the field of development, reported Tass citing a diplomatic source.
- We walked out as a sign of protest against the openly politicized and aggressive speech, which did not match the stated theme of the summit, said the diplomat.
Reportedly, only one Russian spokesman stayed and explained it saying "Russia has the habit of listening to its opponents and not leaving their speeches completely ignored."
