The citizens of the Russian Federation will enter Ukraine on foreign passports only.
The corresponding government resolution "On the suspension of certain provisions of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on visa-free trips of citizens of Ukraine and the Russian Federation" has been signed by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the government portal reports.
Yatsenyuk stressed the need to strengthen control on the Ukrainian-Russian border and to "introduce European rules of crossing the border, including for the citizens of the Russian Federation."
The Prime Minister also noted that the Cabinet passed the resolution to stop the force of some provisions of the Agreement between Ukraine and the Russian Federation on visa-free trips of citizens of Ukraine and the Russian Federation. "We exclude the internal passport and birth certificate as the basis for crossing the Ukrainian state border."
According to the PM, such a step will significantly strengthen border control and ensure the interests of Ukraine's national security.
