Russia plans to create a "federal national-cultural autonomy of the Crimean Tatars" by the end of the year, reported TASS citing Eyvaz Umerov, Head of a public organization "Regional national-cultural autonomy (RNKA) of Crimean Tatars in the Republic of Crimea".
According to him, it is planned to create the autonomy by the end of the year.
- We are holding talks and consultations with the Crimean Tatars from Rostov region, Stavropol and Krasnodar territories, Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian regions where our compatriots live. We plan that the federal national-cultural autonomy of the Crimean Tatars of Russia will be created by the end of this year, said Eyvaz Umerov.
Creating an organization of the Crimean Tatars became possible following the Russia’s presidential decree on the rehabilitation of the deported people in April 2014. Thus Russia plans "to unite Crimean Tatars in the Russian Federation."
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko claimed it is necessary to create a national autonomy of the Crimean Tatars in Crimea.
