Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin denied the possibility of a deal with the United States concerning the second referendum in the Crimea in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.
Reference: in March 2014, Russia annexed the Ukrainian Crimea after introducing its troops and holding an illegal "referendum". On March 18, the Kremlin signed the so-called "treaty" on the adoption of the Crimea and Sevastopol in Russia. Western countries and international organizations did not recognize the annexation of Crimea and imposed a series of economic sanctions against Russia.
The first US sanctions against Russia were adopted in 2014 over the annexation of Crimea, as well as over Russian aggression in the East of Ukraine.
