MOSCOW (QHA) -

As of January 1, 2016, Russia is going to introduce economic sanctions against Ukraine, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev wrote on his Facebook page.

“As of January 1, 2016, customs duties for Ukrainian goods will be increased due to the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. Russia will also impose reciprocal economic sanctions against Ukraine because it has joined the anti-Russian sanctions,” wrote Medvedev.

Ukraine repeatedly stated before that it was not going to delay ratifying the economic part of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement which is due to take effect on January 1, 2016. A similar stance has been taken by the EU as well.
