Russia to create new divisions to counter NATO forces

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the creation of new divisions to counter the build-up of NATO forces near Russian borders.

The head of the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation said that the Ministry will form three new divisions based in the Western and Southern Military District to counter NATO forces by the end of this year.

“The Ministry of Defense adopted a series of measures to counter the build-up of NATO forces in close proximity to the Russian borders. In this regard, by the end of the year, two new divisions will be formed in the Western Military District, and one - in the Southern Military District,” reads a statement by Shoigu published on the Ministry’s website. 

The Russian Defense Ministry also reports that the arrangements for garrisons are currently underway. At the same time, the Minister said that the technology of temporary demountable "modular structures" is "the most advanced construction solution."
