MOSCOW (QHA) -

Following the statement of the Head of the CIA John Brennan on Moscow using "scorched earth" policy in Syria, the representative of the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense Igor Konashenkov replied with accusations as well, propaganda publication Interfaks informs.

Konashenkov accused the International coalition led by the United States of causing damage to Syria's economy and the destruction of the economic infrastructure of the state in order to weaken the legitimate repressive regime of Bashar al-Assad. He stated that coalition bombed not only declared Washington's targets like IS terrorists’ positions, but civilian population as well.

“Sooner or later, they will have to answer for all this. Therefore, the attempt of Mr. Brennan to soften the blow in the future with his statement is unlikely to help,” the representative of the Defense Ministry said.

He went on saying that the statement by the Head of the CIA is a "swan song", and speakers with similar views are "Russiaphobe losers."

In his comments Konashevich even recalled that in 1945 the US Air Force dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and used chemical weapons against the population during the Vietnam War.

The Russian Federation, as an ally of the repressive regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria, systematically bombed the civilian population with phosphorous and vacuum bombs under the guise of attacks on the Syrian opposition. During the civil war in Syria, hundreds of thousands people were killed due to the attacks of the regime and its allies. The international community has repeatedly appealed to Russia calling to stop the barbaric bombing. In response, Russia has blocked nearly every UN resolution on the peaceful settlement of the Syrian conflict.

Earlier it was reported that the Head of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) John Brennan has accused Russia of using "scorched earth" policy in Syria, which resulted in the deaths of thousands civilians.
