Russia's new spokesman in Minsk landed on sanction list

Russia’s President has appointed a new spokesman of the contact group, leading negotiations on the settlement of the situation in Donbas.

Russian President decided to appoint Boris Gryzlov, the Head of the Supreme Council of the "United Russia" Party, a new spokesman for the talks in Minsk, reported the Kremlin press service.

"To entrust the permanent member of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Boris Vyacheslavovich Gryzlov with the responsibilities of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian Federation in a contact group created to settle the situation in Ukraine," according to the decree.

One of the most vocal supporters of the Russian President’s policy, Boris Gryzlov has ended up being on the West sanction list as a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
