BISHKEK (QHA) -

After MPs approval the law on denunciation of the agreements with Russia on joint construction of the Upper Naryn Hydropower Cascade and Kambarata-1 HPP should be signed by President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev, RIA Novosti reports.

The decision on the denunciation was supported by all 97 deputies present at the meeting of the 120-seat Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament).

In December 2015, President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev said that Bishkek was considering the withdrawal from the agreements with Russia on the Upper Naryn Hydropower Cascade and Kambarata-1 HPP, as well as the search for new investors due to Russia's economic problems. Atambayev also noted that he came to a mutual understanding on this issue with the Russian leadership. Later on, the Kyrgyz government announced the denunciation of the agreements with Russia due to the fact that the Russian side "recognized the impossibility of raising funds for the implementation of agreements."
