-  As of April 18, 2016 the "Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People" has been put on a list of public and religious organizations whose operation is banned due to extremist activity. The public organization has entered the list by the decision of the Prosecutor of the Republic of Crimea, according to a statement on the official website of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation.

April 15, the hearing in the “Mejlis case” was adjourned until April, 25. One of the reasons was the absence of the Mejlis Deputy Chairman Nariman Dzhelyal.

April 13, 2016, the "Prosecutor of Crimea" Natalia Poklonskaya claimed the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People were put on hold in Crimea and this decision would be valid pending a verdict by "the Supreme Court of Crimea."
