During a briefing with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Yekaterinburg, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia is not ready to break diplomatic relations with Ukraine.
“I do not think that we are now in a situation when someone is interested in the severance of diplomatic relations. These are extreme measures,” Lavrov said.
He called to eliminate emotions and focus on the stabilization of the situation.
“I think the main thing now is not to succumb to emotions, not to fall into some extreme options, but rather to seek stabilization of the situation in a restrained and concentrated way,” Lavrov said.
Germany called on both the Russian Federation and Ukraine to refrain from further escalation of the situation following the provocations in Crimea according to the statement of the German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
