The Russian Federation has not given up on its plans to capture Ukraine’s southern regions but it is unlikely to succeed because Ukrainian borders are heavily guarded,’ said a spokesperson for Ukraine’s Chief Intelligence Department in an interview with QHA.

“Since 2014, Russia has been considering capturing Ukraine’s southern regions. However, it will fail because Ukraine’s Armed Forces will prevent it from doing so,” the spokesperson said.

According to Viktor Muzhenko, Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ukraine faces threat not only from the Donbass and south-eastern regions. He claims that the General Staff is considering several scenarios, including a large-scale aggression against Ukraine.
