Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a decree authorizing extension of the list of countries subject to food embargo. The list has been extended to Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein and, subject to special conditions, Ukraine.
The restrictions on import of Ukrainian products are due to come into force once the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement takes effect, BBC reports.
“Countries joining the sanctions against Russia should be prepared to face countersanctions,” Medvedev explained.
In late July 2015, Montenegro, Albania, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Ukraine joined the EU sanctions imposed against Russia.
