Russia and Iran to hold joint naval exercises

Fleet of the Russian Federation and Iran Navy will hold naval exercises in the Caspian Sea.

Iran and the Russian Federation will hold joint naval exercises in the Caspian Sea. The Iranian fleet will include Joshan and Peikan rocket ships, as well as Damavand destroyer, Dozhd reports citing Fars News Agency. 

According to the Iranian officer, the main task of the Iranian navy forces is to call at the ports of Russia and Azerbaijan and strengthen ties between the fleets, as well as to train the sailors. The ships are expected to get to destination for 14 days. After visiting Astarakhan port, they will leave for Baku for 2 weeks.
