MOSCOW (QHA) -

Representatives of the Russian government accused the European Union of the so-called "visa genocide" against Crimeans, who are able to get visas for foreign travelling only in diplomatic offices on mainland Ukraine, according to the statement of Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Aleksei Meshkov, as cited by RIA Novosti.

“Not a single meetings on the EU line, is held without raising this issue - first of all, this visa genocide, which was introduced against Crimeans in the European Union.”

According to Meshkov, Russia is conducting "heavy fighting" with the EU on this matter. It should be noted that Russian propagandists have used the term "visa genocide" since the end of last year.

Reference: Residents of the Crimea can enter the EU countries only if they receive a visa at the diplomatic offices in Ukraine.

Recently, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has also started talking about "visa discrimination in the Crimea."
