Russian political party "Western choice" has drafted an appeal to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the United States Congress, according to the party leader Konstantin Borovoy. The appeal calls not to recognize the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a QHA correspondent reported from the press conference in Kiev.
“We propose not to recognize a delegation of the Russian Federation officials, to call themselves the MPs. We do not want them to be perceived as people’s representatives, as they are appointed by the Kremlin. We ask the PACE and the US Congress not to bring discredit upon themselves, collaborating with such structures, posed as the Parliament,” Borovoy said.
He went on saying that most of the reports on the Russian elections were prepared in advance, and the real results were just destroyed.
September 18, Russian citizens voted for MPs.
Earlier, the European Union said refused to recognize the election results in the Crimean peninsula, as well as the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation in 2014.
A number of countries, including the United States, Canada, France, and Sweden refused to recognize their validity on the territory of the annexed Crimea. Polish Foreign Ministry has called into question the legitimacy of the parliamentary elections to the State Duma of Russia as a whole.
September 20, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a Resolution on non-recognition of the legitimacy of the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the 7th convocation, as well as their results and the legal consequences, and accordingly, the State Duma’s composition, powers, acts and decisions. A total of 264 Ukrainian MPs voted for this Resolution.
