As part of his visit to London Refat Chubarov paid a visit to the BBC headquarters and gave the interviews to Ukrainian, Azerbaijani, Russian and Uzbek editions, according to his Facebook page.
“I think I visited the BBC headquarters for the first time in 1996. At that time the journalists were working in a different, more ponderous and imperial style building. And now, It feels like being in the future: a new purpose-built building thoroughly thought out from a functional point of view. Even from post pictures, you can imagine this wonderful complex,” Chubarov said.
In his interview with BBC Ukraine the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars said that the persecution of Crimean Tatar people by the Russian authorities stems directly from the fact that the community consistently and decisively acted to protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine in February 2014.
