Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov addressed Zhang Xiyun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Ukraine, press-service of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people reports.
In his letter Chubarov stressed that Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people hopes that Ukrainian-Chinese deal will not prevent Crimean Tatars from taking part in forming the future of Crimea.
Head of Mejlis noted that Crimean land to be leased by Chinese investors remains the main topic of scandals in Crimea.
Note: Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a territorial agreement, allowing the Chinese to lease about 160,000 hectares of Crimean land.
Moreover, China plans to invest $3 billion to build deep-water port in Saki district of Crimea, that would erode the sand beaches and may cause damage to Crimean environment.
Still, Crimean Prime Minister Anatoliy Mogilev has assured environmentalists that the construction of a deep-water port at the western coast of the Crimean peninsula will start only after environmental studies are completed.
