On Sunday, February 26, following the Procession of solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people, Ukrainians and people of other nationalities who reside in a temporarily occupied by Russia the Crimea, the rally in honor of the  Day of Crimean Resistance to Russian occupation began at the Independence Square in Kyiv.

“Resistance to the occupier continues. It began with the capture of the Crimea. Many Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars gave their lives for freedom. Eternal memory to all the perished for the fight and the independence of Ukraine,” the Mufti DUMA "Ummah" Said Ismagilov said, and activists honored their memory with a minute of silence.

Speaker of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov expressed the hope that the laws on the status of the Crimean Tatar people will be supported, and the autonomy be will soon restored. He urged the President to speed up the amendment to section 10 of the Constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

“Tens of thousands of people who came to the Supreme Council of Crimea showed that Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars have survived. But with such an enemy as Russia we had to prepare for a different scenario. But do not think that Putin won. He laid the path to the destruction of Russia. And he will be punished by the International court,” Chubarov said.
