14 March 2014 15:32

Rallies against illegal referendum and for Crimea as part of Ukraine are held throughout Crimea today.

Thousands of people gathered along major highways in Belogorsk, Bakhchisaray, Simferopol, Sudak and other Crimean regions.  They hold Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar flags, blue and yellow balloons and posters “No to war”, “No to referendum”, “Crimea is part of Ukraine” and others.

People are chanting “Crimea-Ukraine!”, “Boycott to referendum!”

People claim that the so-called referendum is illegitimate and no country will recognize its results.  They also say that they don’t need a referendum as they already live in their homeland in Crimea, which is part of Ukraine.

At different locations, rallies gather thousands of people.  For example, Simferopol-Feodosia highway gathered 6 thousand people; rally in Ukromnoye- about one thousand people.

As reported, the referendum on the status of Crimea is to take place on March 16.
