Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on cooperation in defense sphere.
Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Dublian noted that, in accordance with the agreement signed by the representatives of Ukraine and the United Kingdom in Kyiv in March 17, 2016, the two countries have been cooperating in the defense sector to strength peace and stability.
It is expected that the parties to the memorandum will be exchanging their views on issues related to confidence-building and strengthening international security. Moreover, they will exchange their experience in training command personnel and military skills; promote cooperation in the military-technical sphere; participate in joint exercises; identify opportunities for procurement of military equipment, spare parts and ammunition.
According to the Deputy Minister, the goods transported between the territories of the participants are exempt from customs duties and VAT under the memorandum.
Chairperson of the Subcommittee of the Committee on European Integration Oksana Yurinets noted that the ratification of the memorandum will not require additional expenditures from the state budget.
