Putin going to US to hammer out deal on Crimea

It has been 10 years since Putin was at the UN General Assembly and faced leaders of many other nations, reports La Stampa.

However, things have changed and Russia, stripped of its former privileges, is forced to take the UN rostrum again to try and get back in the game.

Citing its own unofficial information, La Stampa alleges that Putin will advance a proposal whereby he will mediate a resolution to the Syrian conflict. Under the proposal, Russia will also be positioned as a key ally in the fight against ISIS.

In exchange, the Russian President will demand that the sanctions against Moscow be lifted or a moratorium on new ones imposed, and ask for forgiveness for annexation of Crimea, reports the publication.
