SIMFEROPOL/AQMESCIT (QHA) -

Activists of the Ukrainian Culture Center were detained by Russian police after laying flowers to the Bogdan Khmelnitsky monument in Simferopol on October 14, wrote Leonid Kuzmin, a member of the Ukrainian Culture Center, on his Facebook page.

“After laying flowers to the Bogdan Khmelnitsky monument, the activists were held up and taken to an anti-extremism center for a talk,” he writes.

Since annexation of Crimea, pro-Ukrainian activists have been increasingly targeted by Russian authorities. Leonid and Maxim Kuzmin, members of the Ukrainian Culture Center, were detained simply for laying flowers to the Bogdan Khmelnitsky monument in Simferopol on August 24.
