During January 23, Ukrainian protesters stormed government offices in Ukrainian cities, forcing one governor to write a resignation letter.

Activists smashed a door and broke into the City Hall of the western Ukrainian city of Rivne, demanding the resignation of Governor Vasyl Bertash.

The protesters, who negotiated with Bertash’s deputies, forced them to write resignation letters. Residents of another western Ukrainian city, Lviv, seized the city administration building and forced Governor Oleh Salo to resign.

However, later he refused resignation, telling that he was forced to do it. Furthermore, similar actions took place in Zhitomir, Odessa, Khmelnitsky, Sumy, Poltava, Vinnitsa, where protests still continue.

As reported, Kiev has been the epicenter of two months of protests against President Viktor Yanukovych that have grown increasingly violent this week.
