Tomorrow, November 18, an indefinite protest action in the form of one-person picket "Strategy-18" will begin in St. Petersburg (Russia).
Activists urge all concerned citizens to meet tomorrow at the intersection of Nevsky Prospekt and Malaya Sadovaya Street in the period from 6:45 pm to 7:00 pm.
“On the 18th day of each month, we will take to the streets of the city in support of the Crimean Tatars. The date was chosen deliberately: A great tragedy, the deportation of the Crimean Tatars, began on May 18, 1944... Now, since March 2014, the Crimean Tatars have been experiencing a new genocide. From the very beginning of the occupation of Crimea by Russian troops, a tough police regime was established on the peninsula. The main task for the authorities is to sow fear among the locals. This is done by putting a constant pressure on different population groups. And 95% of political persecution of citizens on the peninsula accounted for the Crimean Tatars,” Solidarnost United Democratic Movement in St. Petersburg posted on its Facebook page.
In this way, the activists express solidarity with the Crimean Tatars, and insist that crimes against the Crimean Tatar people should not be ignored.
