A pro-government rally organized by the Party of Regions took place on European Square in Kyiv, Ukrinform reported.
The demonstrators held party symbols and Ukrainian flags.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov has delivered his speech at the rally, which was just hundreds of meters from the heart of the anti-government protests.
He told the crowd that they have to “fulfil certain conditions” such as legalising same-sex marraige. He then asked whether Ukranians “were ready to adopt an equal rights law for sexual minorities?” An overwhelming “no” could be heard from the thousands of government supporters, according to Euronews.
At 16:30 demonstrators left the Square, according to UNN.
