The Party of Regions is ready for dialogue with the protesters on the Independence Square, the leader of the party faction in the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Yefremov told on Monday, Ukrinform reports.
"Our faction is ready to take part in relevant discussions with the people who came to the Maidan and ask questions that need answering," he said.
Yefremov also did not rule out that this dialogue can involve the Cabinet of Ministers.
Commenting on statements by the opposition leaders, the politician said it is only a publicity stunt: "The opposition's demands are clear, we have repeatedly heard them and they want to exploit the situation in the country only to solve their personal military and political objectives."
It should also be noted, the Council of Europe has called on the Ukrainian authorities and the opposition to return to dialogue and has offered its assistance, according to a statement made by Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland.
"I call upon all parties in Ukraine to refrain from violence and return to peaceful dialogue," Jagland said.
He noted that the situation in Ukraine is of great concern to the Council of Europe.
