PARIS (QHA) -

The problems of observance of human rights in the occupied Crimea were discussed on March 13 in Paris at the round table "The Human Rights Situation of Crimean Tatars in Crimea" in the framework of the meeting of the Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Representatives of Ukraine - Akhtem Chiygoz, Volodymyr Ariev and Sasha Romantsova - told the members of the committee about the state of affairs with human rights in the occupied Crimea, increased repression against Crimean Tatars, mass "judicial" reprisals against participants of  one-person pickets and atmosphere of fear and pressure on the peninsula. The issue of compelling people to vote in the illegal presidential elections in the Crimea was raised as well.

On the same day, the situation in the occupied Crimea was discussed in London, where Ilmi Umerov, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, met with the lawyers of the European Human Rights Advocacy Center (EHRAC) and discussed the details of the case of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people against the Russian Federation, which is pending before the ECHR.

Earlier QHA reported that Dzhemilev, Chiygoz and Umerov are on a visit to the UK.
