KYIV (QHA) -

May 11, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Slovenian President Borut Pahor held a meeting within the framework of the visit of Slovenian Head of state to Kyiv. During the meeting the politicians discussed the situation in the occupied Crimea, the press service of the Ukrainian President reported.

Poroshenko thanked Slovenia for its position.

“Discussing the situation in the Crimea, we once again confirmed that the temporary occupation of Ukrainian territory by Russia is a gross violation of international law. And I want to emphasize that we are very grateful and appreciate the position of Slovenia," the president stated as cited by the press service.

Borut Pahor, in turn, noted the need to keep the sanctions policy against the Russian Federation.

"Sanctions are necessary. Slovenia will absolutely support all sanctions if Russia does not comply with the Minsk Agreements. This is the only tool that we have and we can control to achieve the goal," the President of Slovenia said.

Earlier, Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine will return the uncontrolled territories of the Donbas and the occupied Crimea. The President noted that Ukraine will use various methods for the liberation of the occupied territories, "not only military, not only defensive, but also political and diplomatic ones".
