On the Day of Honoring Combatants in the Territory of Other States and on the 27th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko honored the memory of soldiers fallen in Afghanistan.

The Head of State laid flowers to the Memorial Complex for Ukrainian citizens killed in Afghanistan, while soldiers of honor guard made a floral composition in national colors, according to the President's website.

Jointly with Afghan veterans, Petro Poroshenko held a minute of silence to pay tribute to the fallen warriors. Following that, the National Anthem and a gun salute were performed.
