Position of the European Union concerning the annexation of Crimea and the Russian aggression in Ukraine remains the same, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said after a meeting with the Foreign Ministers on the results of the elections in the US, according to The Wall Street Journal.
“As for Russia, you know, the European Union has taken a principled position on illegal annexation of Crimea and the situation in Ukraine. This will not change, despite the possible changes in policies of the other countries,” Mogherini said.
Mogerini has already noted that Donald Trump winning the election of the President of the United States, will in no way change the EU policy towards Ukraine, because it is not determined in Washington.
November 13, the European Union foreign ministers arrived in Brussels for dinner at the invitation of Mogerini, where they discussed the EU's relations with the US after a Republican Donald Trump became the 45th US President. Initially, ministerial meeting has been scheduled for November 14. In Brussels, the Ministers were to discuss the situation in Turkey and the EU's relations with its eastern neighbors.
