President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will speak at the 71st UN General Assembly session on September 21, the UN News Center reports.
The UN General Assembly session officially opened in New York on September 13.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, Petro Poroshenko has scheduled many meetings at the UN General Assembly, including one with the US President Barack Obama.
“Meetings have been scheduled, there are will be a lot of meetings, and with an emphasis not only on Europe but also on the US,” he said.
Klimkin also pointed out that there would be two meetings of the Security Council. According to him, the second meeting on the Aviation Security is very important for Ukraine, as the final report into the crash of Malaysian Boeing will be presented prior to it.
“The first session will focus on the Middle East and Syria, and the second - on aviation security,” the Minister said.
The annual general debate of the UN General Council will begin on September 20. Leaders of Brazil and the United States are expected to be the first to deliver their speeches at the General Assembly on that day.
