The Ukrainians Yuriy Soloshenko and Gennady Afanasyev are onboard a Ukrainian aircraft, President Petro Poroshenko reported on Facebook.
- At last! Yuri Soloshenko and Gennady Afanasyev are onboard the Ukrainian aircraft and fly from Moscow to Ukraine. We have fought for this moment for so long! wrote the Head of State.
As QHA reported earlier, the Moscow Airport "Vnukovo-2" is awaiting an aircraft with the Ukraine’s National Guard, which should take home the Ukrainian citizens Gennadiy Afanasyev and Yuri Soloshenko, illegally convicted in Russia.
Just a reminder: according to the FSB, a former CEO of defense plant "Banner" Yuri Soloshenko was detained in August 2014 while attempting to illegally purchase secret components for anti-aircraft missile systems "S-300". The Moscow City Court sentenced him to six years' imprisonment in a strict regime colony.
Gennadiy Afanasyev was arrested in May 2014 in the so-called "Sentsov’s terrorist groups” case. Along with a Ukrainian Director Oleg Sentsov, Alexander Kolchenko and Alexey Chirniy he was found guilty of plotting terrorist attacks in Russia-occupied Crimea.
