President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with the US Ambassador in Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch to congratulate Donald Trump on his winning in the presidential election in the United States, according to the official website of the President of Ukraine.
“I sincerely congratulate Donald Trump on his election as President of the United States and the friendly American people on the democratic expression of their will. It is a symbol of true democracy, when no one knows the election results until the last moment. And it is a sign of true democracy, which our reliable and strategic American partners and friends have always praised and promoted,” said the Head of Ukraine during his meeting with US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch in Ukraine.
Poroshenko noted that, together with the presidency, Donald Trump will have to take responsibility for the leadership of the United States in the democratic world.
He expressed gratitude for the consolidated support of Ukraine by the Congress, the Senate and the Administration of the United States President, and hope for the further US support, particularly, in opposition to Russian aggression and reform.
Poroshenko thanked the US Ambassador for the words on the extension of sanctions against Russia. He expressed hope that the new US administration will remain a reliable partner of Ukraine.
In closing the meeting, the President of Ukraine asked the US ambassador to tell Donald Tramp his invitation to visit Ukraine.
Donald Trump became the 45th President of United States of America winning 276 electoral votes with 271 needed to determine the winner.
