During his working visit to Riga, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with the Ukrainian community in Latvia and expressed hope that on April 6, the European Parliament will vote for the introduction of the European Union visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens, according to Tiden reports.
“I hope that on the sixth of April we will have a decision of the European Parliament. We have worked very hard for this," the President said.
According to him, a delegation of People's Deputies of Ukraine will leave for the European Parliament.
"We expect the European Parliament to support Ukraine and Ukrainians by an absolute majority of votes and to vote for Ukrainians to travel to the Schengen countries without any visas and restrictions.”
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine predicted the introduction of a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens by the summer of this year.
