KYIV (QHA) -

On February 12, on the initiative of the Ukrainian side, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held telephone talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The cause for the telephone talks was the third anniversary of the Minsk accords conclusion.

The parties discussed the issue of the release of Ukrainian hostages in the temporarily occupied territories and the exchange of captured border guards.

Negotiations took place in coordination with European partners in the Normandy format and American allies.

Earlier, Commissioner by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Valeria Lutkovska said that now it is impossible to name the exact date for the next exchange of prisoners. She also stressed that the Ukrainian media incorrectly use the concept of "exchange of prisoners", because in Ukraine there are officially none.
