Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko Dec 20 met with Presidential Envoy on Crimean Tatar issues, Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Jemilev, the head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov and his deputy Ahtem Chiygoz in Kyiv.
Special focus of the meeting was paid to human rights in Crimea and the situation of Crimean Tatars.
Speaking during the meeting, Chiygoz emphasized the importance of efficient of regulation of economical ties between Ukraine and Crimea in the interests of Crimea rezidents.
President Poroshenko, in turn, emphasized Ukraine’s aspiration to support Crimea and its residents in accordance with international norms and national laws.
To recall, Refat Chubarov has been tasked by Poroshenko to help enforce the new government's drive to stamp out corruption, as the National Anti-corruption Bureau was created in Kyiv.
