April, 13 a self-proclaimed "Crimean Prosecutor" Natalia Poklonskaya rendered a decision "to suspend the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People," reported TASS.
Poklonskaya refers to Sections 9 and 10 of the Federal Law "On Countering Extremist Activity." The “Prosecutor's Office of Crimea" sent a decision to the Ministry of Justice that the latter includes the Mejlis in the general list of public and religious organizations suspended in the territory of the Russian Federation and in occupied Crimea.
- To suspend the rights of the public organization. They are forbidden to use all state and municipal media, they cannot hold various public mass meetings, use bank deposits and in general carry out any work. All their propaganda is prohibited, said the "Prosecutor."
A lawyer Dzhemil Temishev posted to Facebook the photos of "a document" with Poklonskaya’s decision.
The activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars will be put on hold until a decision of the so-called "Crimean Supreme Court" in a lawsuit lodged by Poklonskaya.
