Former US Ambassador to Ukraine Steven Pifer believes the United States can provide more support to Ukraine without coming into serious conflict with Russia, according to Voice of America.
“President underestimates the importance of this country, not only when it comes to purely internal Ukrainian situation but also when it comes to the threat that Russia poses to the security order in Europe, the order, which for 25 years has been useful for the interests of America and Europe,” said Pifer.
The former US Ambassador also believes that President Obama’s "doctrine" artificially creates a choice between two extremes when it comes to Ukraine.
“He poses it as a problem of choice between the continued current US policy and threat of World War 3 with Russia, if we do something more,” he adds.
It's also worth noting that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko will attend the international summit in the US at the end of March.
