Petition for resignation of Kadyrov scored 10 K signatures

Russian iuntellectuals rebelled against the Chechen leader.

More than 10 thousand people have signed a petition posted on the website of the Intellectuals’ Congress demanding the resignation of Ramzan Kadyrov, Head of the Chechen Republic. The petition was published after the Chechen leader urged to treat the representatives of Russian non-systemic opposition "as people’s enemies and traitors," and try them for "subversive activities."

Human rights activists claim "the threats by the Chief Executive of the Federation to the part of Russian civil society are unacceptable, not only morally but also legally."

- Ramzan Kadyrov has repeatedly demonstrated a complete disregard for the laws of the Russian Federation. In the Chechen Republic he heads any even very fair criticism is punishable not only by moral pressure, but direct physical violence, according to a statement by the Congress of Intellectuals.
