Hundreds of Kiev citizens and guests attended a parade "Two flags - one country" timed to the Day of Crimean Tatar Flag. The celebrations are attended by the members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, as well as Gennady Afanasiev, a Ukrainian political prisoner recently released from the Kremlin jail.

Representatives of the Crimean Tatar people are carrying the flag of the Crimean indigenous people in the main street of the capital. The national flag of the Crimean Tatars measures 39 and 6 meters. A distinctive feature of the flag is that it shows not one but many national symbols - Tarak-tamga.

The participants gathered at the intersection of Bogdan Khmelnitsky and Khreshchatyk Streets. Having unfurled the major national relic, the Crimean Tatars are going along Khreshchatyk Street to Independence Square.

Those gathered say that the Crimean Tatar flag is a symbol of their struggle, they chant,"Millet, Vatan, Qırım!" "Glory To Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!" The celebrations are attended by the Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov, a leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev and the Minister on the Issues of the Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs, Vadim Sandpiper.

According to a QHA correspondent, the protesters are marching to Jamala’s song. The march is planned to be broadcast on a big screen at Independence Square.

Currently, the parade starts at the main Square with more and more Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians coming to celebrate the Flag Day.

As QHA reported earlier, a huge flag was manufactured by the Crimean Tatar Association of Culture and Mutual Aid in Ankara.

It is not the first in history celebration of the Flag Day when such a giant Crimean Tatar flag is made. A few years ago a huge flag was unfurled in the central square of the Crimean capital of Simferopol / Akmesdzhit and was recognized the largest national flag. The flag was made and brought to Crimea by a late leader of the Crimean Tatar Association in Bursa, Adnan Suen.

The Day of the Crimean Tatar National Flag is celebrated on June, 26. The celebrations will be held in the cities of Kiev, Kharkov and in Genichesk Area, Kherson region. It is also planned to hold certain celebrations in Crimea unless they are disrupted by the occupation authorities.
