Shortly after the liberation of the city, Reuters released a video showing the streets of Palmyra after long fights and ISIS occupation.

The city was release on March 26 when during the offensive operation the military removed the "Islamic State" flag from the height where the ancient castle is located.

In addition to the strategic importance, Palmyra is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the moment, most of the city's infrastructure, as well as cultural monuments are destroyed or damaged due to combat operations.

As QHA reported earlier, during a US special operation on the territory of Syria, the deputy commander of the "Islamic state" was killed.
