OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Astrid Thors expressed concern about the situation in Crimea. She said this during her meeting with head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, informs press service of Mejlis.
The main purpose of Ms. Thors’s visit to Ukraine is an extremely tense situation in Crimea. During the meeting, Refat Chubarov answered a wide range of questions relating to the recent events in Crimea and described the position of Mejlis, which is based on the use of diplomatic channels to overcome crisis and preserve territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Ms. Thors highly appreciated efforts of Mejlis to preserve peace among all residents of Crimea.
She also assured to use the full range of diplomatic capabilities of OSCE to relieve tension on the peninsula and find way out of crisis.
