The occupation of Crimea can encourage Russia to further violations of international law and threatens the security of the European Union, according to the Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Bartosz Cihotsky.

"If we condone the Russian occupation of the Crimea, we will encouraging further violations of international law in this state and others, we will be making the EU less sacure," the Polish Foreign Ministry quotes Cihotsky on Twitter.

QHA reported that on March 16 the European Union confirmed the non-recognition of the occupation of Crimea by Russia and again called upon the countries of the world to join the sanctions regime. Also, the EU strongly condemned the violation of human rights and freedoms by the occupiers in the Crimea.

Earlier it was reported that the European Union does not recognize the holding of presidential elections in Russia on the territory of the occupied Ukrainian peninsula.
