DZHANKOY (QHA) -

The railway checkpoints between Ukraine and Crimea are currently not functioning due to the unilateral termination of rail communication by Ukraine after recognition of the peninsular an annexed territory.

However, the occupants still hope for the resumption of rail service between the mainland Ukraine and Crimea, TASS reports.

“At present, the railway checkpoints are not functioning due to the unilateral termination of rail communication by Ukraine, but the Border Administration is ready to implement border control and state border crossing at any time,” said Nikolai Bondarenko, ‘Deputy Chief of the FSB Border Department in Crimea.’

For two years of occupation, Ukrainian and Russian border guards have officially communicated only once: in December 2014, they approved the location of the border units on the Arabat Arrow (a spit), as well as Chongar and Ad peninsulas.
