The Deputy Head of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, Ilmi Umer, said on air of 5 TV channel that occupants will open criminal cases after every meeting of the Mejlis in the territory of the annexed peninsula.

"The Supreme Court of Russia made a decision to ban the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people ... Despite the fact that we do not recognize this decision, and despite the fact that the Mejlis is not a public organization - it is an elected representative body of the Crimean Tatars - they will open criminal cases after every meeting of the Mejlis. Until now, this was limited to small fines for participation in the "banned organization."

The decision of the Russian Supreme Court on the legality of the banning of the Mejlis was made on September 29, 2016. The explanation to the decision indicates that the organization is "extremist."

on October 7, according to the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, the occupation law enforcers officially imposed the first administrative fine of 500 rubles on Crimean Tatar Enver Kurtiev for participation in the "extremist organization".
